What Are Self-Ligating Braces?

Braces typically have two main components: the bracket (or brace) that is glued to each tooth, and the wire (or archwire) that connects to the brackets and places pressure on your teeth. Self-ligating is a fancy way of saying that each bracket can attach to the archwire by itself. You don't need elastics or rubber bands to connect the archwire to your braces.
