Dr. Kerry White Brown, an esteemed Orthodontist with nearly 20 years’ experience, publishes new piece sharing how moms can keep their kids occupied when mom doesn’t feel well
Columbia, South Carolina — March 22, 2018 — Carolina Orthodontist Kerry White Brown recently published a new article, “Keeping Kids Busy When Mom Is Sick – 6 Easy Ways.”
Moms don’t get sick days. Even when you are so sick that you feel like you can’t do anything more than hide under the covers, you still have to care for the kids. Any mom can tell you this stinks.
For times when you find yourself in this situation, Dr. White Brown provides six tips for keeping kids occupied while you try to get some rest.
First, she suggests watching movies “with a twist.” As she explains, “It is tempting to let the kids watch TV all day but make it an event instead. Let the kids’ imaginations run wild playing ‘movie theater’ by having concessions, an usher, and intermission. A movie day will allow you to have about an hour and a half to rest up on the couch with your kids.”
Dr. White Brown also suggests creating a wall canvas for the kids. You just hang some sheets or a piece of banner paper on the wall and let the kids go to town with paint, crayons, and/or markers. While they are having fun, you can just crawl in bed and rest.
Other ideas she presents are a game that allows your kids to discover sounds around the house, creating an indoor hopscotch, and designing an in-the-house obstacle course.
